Immigration Lawyer Free Consultation Options?

Looking for a free consultation immigration lawyer? Here at the American Visa Law Group, we don’t necessarily offer free consultations in every case, but we have carved out some exceptions. In particular, we offer free consultations for marriage-based I-130 petitions, K-1 fiancée petitions, and parent sponsorship cases without complications. For these consultations, the purpose is not to go into complications or in-depth analysis of particular issues pertaining to the case, but to just offer a quick 10-minute rundown of our process and fees. Sometimes even these typically simpler cases can have unique complexities or issues that require in-depth analysis, and therefore a paid 30-minute, and in some cases an hour-long consultation is necessary.

We also make some exceptions for corporate clients with an anticipated recurring workload of casework, and the purpose of such a consultation would be to discuss the services we are able to offer your business as a full-service immigration law firm. If a detailed discussion is needed for the purposes of case analysis, a paid consultation would be needed.

Immigration Lawyer Free Consultation Offer for All Cases?

immigration lawyer free consultation
Be wary of an immigration law firm offering free consultations in all cases.

If you find a firm offering free immigration lawyer consultation on every case, you have to question why they are making this offer. This comment may sound self-serving, as it is being made on the website of an immigration law firm that generally charges for consultations, but there’s a reason why immigration attorneys don’t typically offer free consultations across the board. Why? Because there are many people in the public space who are not serious about retaining the services of a lawyer who may have a simple case with a few questions they need clarification on. If a law firm were to open to door to take on these consultations for free, it would take time away from serving their current clients and reduce the quality of service. Furthermore, if an attorney is so unbusy that they can offer such a policy of across-the-board free consultations, then it also speaks negatively to their level of preparedness to handle your case. Attorneys with too much spare time means that they are not keeping up with the current flow of immigration. You do not want to retain a lawyer who is not prepared.

Why Do Immigration Lawyers Charge Consultation Fees?

Immigration lawyers charge a consultation fee to assess the complexities of individual cases, provide personalized advice, and allocate time for thorough analysis. This upfront fee allows clients to receive expert insights and make informed decisions about pursuing legal immigration processes. Consultation fees typically get credited toward legal fees.

What are Typical Consultation Fees for Immigration Lawyers?

A consultation fee for an immigration attorney varies and depend on the amount of time booked. If generic questions are being asked about a highly routine case, then attorneys may offer short free consultations. Typically, that is not the case and consultation fees vary from $75 would be among the cheapest to around $250 for the most expensive for 30-minute consults to $100-$400 for hour-long consults.
