Sana Abbasi, Attorney of Counsel

Sana Abbasi serves as Attorney, of Counsel, for American Visa Law Group. She was born in the Bay Area, California. She received her Juris doctorate (JD) from Santa Clara University, School of Law, and her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in U.S. History from the University of California, Davis. Her passion to serve the immigrant community stems from having immigrant parents who came to the United States in the late 1970’s to seek better opportunities. She has long-time served the immigrant community in both immigration and criminal defense cases.

Aside from immigration law, she commands a broad scope of legal expertise including criminal defense where she handled serious felony to misdemeanor criminal cases. She served in-house for a California Company handling matters overlapping real estate, business, and entertainment law.

In law school she served as an intern not only for the law school’s immigration clinic, but also for the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda. Sana Abbasi was subsequently selected as a post-graduate legal fellow investigating post conviction criminal cases of factual innocence. While awaiting bar results, Sana Abbasi served as a post-bar clerk for the City Attorney’s office, legal transactions unit. Her area of expertise is in the areas of criminal law and immigration law and she currently handles various types of immigration matters including Family-Based petitions and H1Bs. She also independently practices criminal defense. She was awarded “top 40 under 40” by the National Trial Lawyers Association in 2019, Avvo’s “Client’s Choice” Award in 2019, “10 Best Immigration Attorneys” and “10 Best attorneys for client satisfaction” by the American Institute of legal counsel.
